Here in Louisiana everything is centered around food. Family coming over? Have a crawfish boil. Meeting a friend? You meet for a meal. That is just how it is.

Even though I am not originally from here, I still use the terms for the food. I have no idea what a Po-boy is called in other places, and can't imagine ordering a "pop" in place of a "coke" or "cold drink*".


*One must point out that the correct pronunciation of "cold drink" is very important. The d in cold and the k in drink is pretty much silent and both words are run together to make it sound like "coaldrin".
